caa ballet classes

The main purpose of our dance program is to teach the joy of dance through the performance experience.
As a new students, you can try any of our dance classes once, free of charge. The dance instructor will
guide you to another class if it is not a good fit with your experience/talent level. Ages are approximate.
Combo classes include tap and ballet training.

Beginning Dance Program
(Age guideline: preschool and elementary)
Levels I-III
Introduction of basic dance elements, positions and steps. Development of locomotor skills, rhythm,
corrdination and the physical strength neccessary for all dance styles - ballet, jazz, modern, and tap.
Progessively more complex barre, center floor combinations and performance choreography
as students advance through the levels.

Intermediate Dance Program
(Age guideline: upper elementary through high school)
Ballet I
Once a student has mastered the elements taught in the Elementary program, they are prepared to
focus on a specific dance style. Because of increased ability and physical demands, each style of
dance in the Intermediate Program necessitates a full hour of instruction. Therefore, combination
classes are not offered. If a student wishes to continue studying multiple styles of dance, they must
enroll in each class separately (i.e. Jazz I and Tap I.) Students should expect to study at each
level for a minimum of one year, two being the norm. Regular attendance September through May
is the minimum requirement to maintain technical ability. Intermediate students are strongly encouraged
to participate in summer programs.

Advanced Dance Program
(Age guideline: high school)
Ballet II-III, Pre-pointe and Pointe
Enrollment in all Advanced Dance classes is based on appropriate experience, technical ability and/or teacher
recommendation. As ability increases, so does the number of hours required for continued improvement.
Therefore, many classes in the Advanced program are more than one hour per week. For example,
Pointe Class students must attend a minimum of twice a week. Regular attendance September
through May is the minimum expectation to maintain technical ability. Advanced students
are expected to participate in the summer programs.
